Justice fight back

Justice fights back! After losing the battle for a number of years, the keepers of justice finally has something concrete to fight. Zuma has been freed! I suppose their frustration is well deserved. It all started over a decade ago with the freedom of Mandela. I know he freed our country from a society that was perpetrating hideous atrocities against humanity, but people killed under the name of the organisation that he claimed leadership. The anc planned and executed a decade of terror and rolling mass action to take over power. Power that was used to deny access to free choice. Power that manipulated the organs of state to an end that was wrong. So order was restored, but not justice. As with the keepers before them, the new owners of justice struggled to get a proper hold on the hilt. The anc tried to restore it through the reconciliation process, and although it remained in power for more than a decade, it has now broken free. With Zuma. If you listen to the war cry of justice you

Fighting agaist death

"5 Fighting agaist death" was the title of the book she was reading. Apparantly a tale of heroism and bravery in the dry heat of the desert sun. I tried to convince her to take a look at the 'Out There' magazine, but without much success. 'n Few minutes earlier she was telling me about how she was told last year that she only had a few months left. Two in fact, give or take a few days. It made me wonder about mortality and old age in general. She was coughing badly the last two weeks and she wasn't shure, but she thinks she coughed up a piece of lung the other day. The cancer had spread through her right side and since she coughed up the piece she feels a pain in her chest. I feel helpless in the face of such suffering. Naked and helpless. She laughs as I try to exchange her book with the magazine, and I wonder what use she would have for a book about far away places she would probably never see. But then I remember the power of a dream, and I make sure that w

Spiritual journey

According to a leading periodical the report on matters such as these, 'the spiritual journey is riddled with the lure of false prophets and decepetive practices'. Trust me suppose, but I would like to disagree! The only false prophets are the one's you've paid to tell you something you already knew, and the only deceptive practices are those you decided to be strenuous, ridiculous or just bad. For the student on a spiritual journey there is nothing to pay in the wisdom shared in love. Every journey and practice has it's own reward if you perform it in honesty and trust. I suppose it safe to say that paying for enlightenment does not make sense at all. Just like promising someone that you will change their world, and doing so by changing their attitude does not make sense if you ask them money. And even though you changed reality it is plain to see that nothing changed at all and therefore people fall, thinking that they have to pay for changing attitude. Warning th

The brain - a user's guide.

How many of us still hold the view that the brain is an organ that doesn't change? Do you believe that we are born with what we have, and after that it is all pretty much downhill as our brain cells continue to die off as we get older? The good news is that this view is incorrect! According to a NewScientist Special Feature the brain is probably the organ that can expect the most changes during our lifetime as it constantly adapts to our changing environment. It starts to develop withing 5 weeks of gestation and continue to grow during the first two trimesters of pregnancy. After this period of construction it is ready to begin processing information it receives via sensory input. Perhaps surprisingly, learning, memory and language begin before we are even born. After birth the brain continues expanding its functional capacities, and at the age of approximately three months the cerebral cortex becomes active. The frontal cortex of the brain will ultimately govern such th
