What is flow?

Image
Many of us may remember some experience where we were engaged in an activity, and in the blink of an eye it seemed as if hours had elapsed. This experience is referred to as flow, and a few years ago it was the subject of a lot of research that resulted in another, more descriptive term called 'optimal experience'. The reason why such a relatively strange human quality attracted enough attention to become the subject of research, is that such experiences are frequently remembered as “the best time of our life”. One of these experiments aimed to examine the different user experiences that facilitate the occurrence of flow, simply by asking research subjects to describe their flow experience. By analyzing the feedback they formulated the following qualities that are common to the flow experience. Challenge – The activity must be challenging, but not so much that it discourages people from participating. Skill – To complete the activity, a participant must use some kind o...

What is... Resonance

Image
Wikipedia 250720 05:24pm (CAT) - In physics , resonance is the tendency of a system to oscillate at maximum amplitude at a certain frequency . This frequency is known as the system's resonance frequency. When damping is small, the resonance frequency is approximately equal to the natural frequency of the system, which is the frequency of free vibrations. A practical use of this tendency is the old disc gramophone as illustrated in the Harry Potter movie "Goblet of Fire" during the preparation for the ball. Interestingly enough, it illustrates the concept of resonance with multiple frequencies... I started to wonder... Resonating with this idea is the concept of "His Masters Voice", an interesting harmony with the most popular of all these gramophones, but in my construct I was thinking more in lieu of the "Voice of God", particularly after having read some of the apocrypha where the writers try to literally write down the teachings of Jesus after...

Quantum proof of life, the universe, everything...

Image
If intention is the seed that fertilises our collective conciousness to give birth to existence, then the quote below is quantum proof of pretty much everything. It defines our universal role as observers on a mission to explore the myriad of possibilities we have, and manifest those that are the most appealing. In quantum mechanics,  wave function collapse  (also called collapse of the state vector or reduction of the wave packet) is the process by which a wave function, initially in a superposition of different eigenstates, appears to reduce to a single one of the states after interaction with an observer.  In simplified terms, it is the condensation of physical possibilities into a single occurrence, as seen by an observer. It is one of two processes by which quantum systems evolve in time according to the laws of quantum mechanics as presented by John von Neumann.[1] And thus we find that quantum mechanics provide the perfect proof to support the notion ...
